Dany Assaf

Director

Dany Assaf’s practice focuses on competition and antitrust, in both domestic and international matters, as well as on foreign investment review. Dany has been recognized as a leading expert in the areas of competition law and foreign investment law. Dany has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Western Ontario and has served as an associate editor of the American Bar Association’s Antitrust Magazine. Dany is a member of the Board of the Canadian Club of Toronto and formerly represented a prior firm at the Canada-Arab Business Council.

Dr. Walid Hejazi

Director

Dr. Walid Hejazi is an Associate Professor of Business Economics, and Academic Director, at the Rotman School of Management where he teaches Canada’s current and future business leaders in the MBA, EMBA, and custom Executive programs. Walid has developed a course in Islamic Finance in the MBA program at the University of Toronto, the first such course in Canada. Walid balances his research activities by helping many of Canada’s leading organizations leverage research to develop and deploy new strategies and initiatives. He has consulted for the Canadian and foreign governments on themes related to international competitiveness and has appeared several times before parliamentary committees.

 

Ziad Said

Director

Ziad Said is a partner in KPMG’s Financial Institutions and Real Estate Practice. He has over 12 years experience auditing and advising financial institutions in Canada. He attended the University of Western Ontario where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree then went to the University of Toronto to pursue his CA requirements.

Dr. James Zoghby

Director

James Zogby is the founder and President of the Arab American Institute, a research and policy organization which serves as the political and policy research arm of the Arab American community. He is the author of Arab Voices as well as a number of other books and publications, including: Looking at Iran, What Ethnic Americans Really Think, and What Arabs Think: Values, Beliefs and Concerns. He is the Managing Director of Zogby Research Services which specializes in public opinion polls in the Middle East.

 
 
 

Jehad Aliweiwi

Director

Jehad Aliweiwi is a strategic thinker with more than 20 years of experience in senior leadership roles in social, settlement, philanthropic and community service organizations. Since January 2014, Jehad has held the position of Executive Director of the Laidlaw Foundation. For 10 years before that Jehad was the Executive Director of the Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office, a multi-service agency in Toronto. Prior to that, he was Regional Director, Metro Region of Catholic Cross-Cultural Services. Jehad also worked with the Canadian Arab Federation for eight years, as Race Relations Officer and, later, as Executive Director.

He was a Trustee of the Ontario Science Centre, a board member of Fred Victor Services, Canadian Council for Refugees and Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI). In 2010 Jehad was the recipient of the Local Hero Award from the Canadian Urban Institute and the 2002 City of Toronto William P. Hubbard Race Relations Award.
