WOSOOL

Wosool aims to enhance the delivery of settlement and social services in Canada by applying an anti-racist lens and promoting culturally responsive approaches. This study is conducted by the Canadian Arab Institute in partnership with the Arab Community Centre of Toronto. The purpose of Wosool is to deepen our understanding of how racism, and specifically anti-Arab racism, manifests within the settlement sector in Canada. Additionally, this study seeks to identify the challenges faced by Arab clients when accessing services and the obstacles encountered by service-delivery organizations in serving racialized communities. Our primary goal is to facilitate the successful settlement and integration of newcomers to Canada in a racially-aware, culturally-sensitive manner.

GOAL

Wosool aims to improve the delivery of settlement and social services by applying an anti-racist lens and support the successful settlement and integration of newcomers to Canada in a racially-aware, culturally-sensitive manner by enhancing the capacity of service provider organizations. Its goals are to:

  1. Deepen understanding of how racism and anti-Arab racism, in particular, manifest within the settlement sector in Canada

  2. Expand the knowledge and capacity of the settlement/social services sector in anti-racism to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of immigrant services

  3. Sustain impact by consulting with service providers on how they can incorporate anti-racist principles within their activities.
